Have you ever wanted to learn how to use a DSLR camera? Emilia Prus will bring 8 DSLR cameras to this exciting workshop so you can learn various camera settings in manual mode. DSLR photography is a whole world of fun. After lunch everyone will head out to use their newly learned skills by doing some street photography.

8 DSLR cameras are available to students as part of the package.

Thurs March 14 + Friday March 15 

This program is developed around the idea that a student will work on a DSLR Camera provided by Emilia Prus. The cost of the camera is included in the workshop fee. Hours of the Workshop will run 10-3 with a 30 minute break for lunch. Students will have to bring their own lunches/snacks. This class has limited registrations for up to 8 students (I have 8 available DSLRs, we can push to 10 if 2 registrants have their own camera)
Cost of Camp: 185.00+HST per camper this includes the DSLR Camera

Day 1:  How to use a Camera

  • Will explain basic functions of a camera, how it works inside and how to use certain modes on a camera. Functions such as: Aperture, Shutter, ISO. How these settings work on their own and how they work together. 
  • How to select a focus point during the lesson and use MANUAL MODE
  • Talk about what is overexposed, properly exposed and under exposed. Students will practice in the classroom. 
  • LUNCH TIME 12:30-1
  • Field trip will be to Riverside Park and walk there and back.
  • When we get back I will upload the photos in individual folders and share them with each student so that they can keep their images from the workshop
  • Show and consolidate their photos to their peers for feedback 

Day 2: Shooting in Black and White

  • Review functions of Camera settings. 
  • We will be changing the function of the camera to shoot in black and white, allowing us to focus on the “compositional rules”
  • LUNCH TIME 12:30-1 
  • After lunch time campers practice their Manual Mode 1 hour walk down Bridge street with emphasis on “street photography”
  • When we get back I will upload the photos in individual folders and share them with each student so that they can keep their images from the workshop

Students show and consolidate their photos to their peers for feedback.
